This is a combined quiz where we talk about marine valves which are used on board ship pipelines as well as some of the common marine uniform insignia. We all know that pipelines are lifelines of a ship and no one is more familiar with this fact that engineers and especially engine cadets and junior engineers.
These people along with deck cadets, are supposed to know their respective pipelines like the back of their hands. This is certainly very helpful in daily routine work on the ship and even more helpful in emergency situations when some valve has to be opened or closed to control flow of certain fluids to any tank or storage space.
There are different kinds of valves which are used in the marine industry and the symbols of some of the common ones are shown here. Apart from valves there are a few marine insignia which are used to differentiate between the various ranks of the ship officers. Of course these insignia might vary from country to country but generally speaking they are having same pattern.
