The Indian Navy needs a lot of people for various roles such as cooks, stewards and topaz. All these roles are vital for the day today operation of the Navy. The cook as the name suggests is responsible for preparing meals. They can be a tenth pass. They need to prepare both veg and non veg food for the crew in the ship. They also account for the ration that is used in the ships. Sometimes the cooks may also be assigned duties that they can do apart from cooking.
The steward again needs to be a tenth pass if they want to join the Navy. They are required to serve food to the officers on board. They also work as waiters. Sometimes they need to do housekeeping too. They account for the fund spent on these activities. They work at the wine stores. They also prepare the Menu for the cooks. Sometimes apart from their regular duties they may be assigned additional duties. The last in the list is the topaz. They work as safaiwala. They need to be only sixth standard passed. As the name suggests these people are responsible to do small cleaning jobs in the ship. They clean the floors and the toilets. Apart from these duties they also may have to do some additional duties. These duties will ensure that the ship operates smoothly.
The eligibility for these roles is not much as the roles don’t require high skills. The age should be between 17 to 21 years. The candidates can apply for these posts online. All that you need to do is apply online for these jobs. If the candidate is selected the call letters will be sent to the address mentioned. They need to appear for the interview which is just a formality.
However, if you are planning to take up these roles in the Nausena then you must be prepared for few things. These are that you will have to stay away from your family. You will have to spend months on board and in the sea. You will have to work hard as cooking and taking care of a crew is not an easy task. The pay will be good like all other jobs in Navy. Here is second type of entry
The Nausea is inviting applications only from those who are male and are unmarried. These are the two most important eligibility criteria, for applying to any entry level job in the Nausena. These openings are for the entry level only. The vacancies are mostly for sailors and senior secondary recruits. The batch is commencing on August 2013. The applications were open from December 2012. The job code for the senior secondary recruits is called SSR. You need to send the application to the address mentioned in the website itself. Also send in the enclosures that are necessary. The candidate must be at least eighteen years of age. The candidate must have completed 10+2 studies. They must have had Physics, Chemistry or computer science in their subjects. All the candidates have to write a written test. They will also need to give a physical and medical fitness test. These are important steps in the selection to the Nausena. If the candidate successfully clears all these tests they will be able to enter the prestigious Nausena.
You might be interested in the pay that a SSR is expected to get. Well during the training period a candidate will get a stipend of 5700 INR a month.
